    It's YELLOW this year!!!

    If you atteneded TechEd last year, then you are familar with the Technical Learning Center (TLC).  Well this year it is gong to be better than ever!!  This year the following tracks will share one of the TLC areas:  Security, Windows Infrastracture, Client and Management.
    Last year they called us the RED area, but if you were there and not color blind you would have clearly seen that it was ROARNGE (our signage was orange not red).  This year we were proposed to be RED this year with an assurance that they would get it right.  Well, we decided to be YELLOW this year instead (as it is the only Windows color left for us to choose from).  I figure there is no way to mess up YELLOW!  I really happen to like yellow!  And my office was pranked last year while I was out at Blackhat and everything was covered and changed to yellow.  Her at MS we are not allowed to paint our walls, so I have left mine yellow and my office is very BRIGHT.  I have a nickname of Miss  and I guess it does fit.    We have new products to feature this year and even more experts than ever before!!
    I am trying to decide what "fun thing" to purchase for our TLC area.  I might have to make sure we have enought caffeine with coffee, or smoothies.  Maybe this year, I can have one day with a little happy hour in the yellow TLC???  What about a give-a-way??  What kind of prizes do you attendees want??  What about these:  Zunes, Xbox360's, flat panel monitors, smartphones??  I really want to make sure that you all are getting things that you want!!  I think the GPS things are cool too, but you tell me.  So far, I know that the TechEd bloggers are reading this, but I am not sure who else is........
    Back to work and getting ready for another TechEd Track Owner Meeting!

    Please don't forget that a reasonable proportion of Tech-Ed attendees will be non-US citizens, so please try to pick some items that don't require electricity or a US telco for it to work.

    Some ideas:

    * Vista ReadyBoost-compatible USB keys, preferably 4GB or bigger.
    * Webcams
    * Headsets/microphones ... after all, OCS 2007 is going into public beta, so you want to encourage some usage there.
    * Vouchers for spending at the Tech-Ed store or the bookshop

    What about these:
    Zunes, *(cool)
    Xbox360's, *(Ver 2 perhaps)
    flat panel monitors, (65" DLP perhaps)
    smartphones??  (Windows mobile 6 PDA/Phones Very Cool)

    I think the GPS things are cool too, but you tell me. Fry's has one for $198 Retail so that could be affordable.

    How about for assigning a point value for each lab.
    Base it on: Time to complete, Technology priorities (IE, Exchange is more important than SQL 2005 ETC. or something like that) and then after an attendee acquires so many points, they become eligible for a prize (Instant award, like the Motorola MPX-220's from Cingular during Teched-2005).
    This sets up a incentive to learn something new and rewards them according to how many different/profitable technologies they learn.
